You’ve struck Black Gold and you won’t be disappointed with this rich and smooth liquid. Not too bitter and just the right amount of sweetness.

A beer that lives up to its name, SIBA UK Supreme Overall Bottled Beer Champion for 2013!

This wholesome stout has a rich dark colour and nutty roast flavour. No less than four colours of malt make up the grist! A smooth sweetness leads to a dry finish and a satisfying after taste.

Bottled 500ml (BZ, BB 02/2012)
Black opaque color, good creamy brown head. Milky toasted aroma with hints of HP Sauce. Crisp carbonation. Quite good body for this ABV. Milky, lactose, coffeish flavor. Sweetish, milk stout -like stout. Cask version is better than this pasteurised bottled one.

500ml bottle from Dobbies garden centre, Ashford. Black beer with lasting tan head. Roasted dark malts on the aroma. Drinkable in the mouth with some fullness from a creamy toffeeness. Nowhere near as good as in cask, but then that’s what pasteurisation does for you.. Coffee on the finish is very pleasant. The best of the Scottish beers I had this afternoon by some way.

Bottle from Corks, Bristol. Opaque black in colour with a decent tan head. Roasted malt and sweet, milk chocolate aroma. Fairly light mouth feel, with some thin roasted malts, almost ashy, more sweet lactose chocolate, and a dryish finish. Tailed off a bit after a very good first inmpression, but still drinkable. Good.
