330 ml bottle into tulip glass, 1320 bottle coding. Pours very hazy/cloudy reddish brown color with a 2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big raisin, apricot, cherry, pear, apple, caramel, toffee, toast, brown sugar, wood, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance an complexity of fruity/earthy yeast and dark/bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of raisin, apricot, cherry, pear, apple, caramel, toffee, toast, brown sugar, wood, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. A fair amount of earthy yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, cherry, apricot, pear, apple, caramel, toffee, toast, brown sugar, wood, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity and robustness of fruity/earthy yeast and dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, moderately crisp, and fairly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent Biere de Garde style. All around great complexity and balance of fruity/earthy yeast and dark/bready malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Clear deep amber colour, good fluffy off-white head, good retention and lacing. Aroma of candy, fruity, peach, apricot, spicy (cinnamon). Smooth medium sweet taste, followed by light bitterness, all the time fruity and spicy notes in the background. Medium body, creamy texture, lively carbonation. Finish light bitter, hint of wood and a bit spicy, lingers on for a while. Nice beer.

(Bottle) Clear rich amber copper with excellent thick white head. Pleasant interesting aroma, mainly spicy and fruity with some complex notes. Medium body, well carbonated. Taste has a nice spicy bite, perhaps largely from the alcohol, from start to finish. This is overlaid on a nicely balanced mix of subtle toffee sweetness and tangy fruitiness. There’s some bitterness in the finish. Overall a very nice strong beer.

Amber colored beer with a spicy body of malt. Has dryish notes of fresh herbs like anise. Yeasty as well.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein leicht trübes bernsteinfarbenes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch fruchtig malzig, würzig, hefig. Geschmack fruchtig süß, würzig malzig.

Rich ruby tinted brown coloured body with a small, half centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of alcohol, light apples, earth, sour grapes, caramel, toffee and a hint of peaches - nice, complex and all over the place. Medium-bodied; Assertive alcohol and pungent medicinal flavours at first with a large bitterness from alcohol and earth, some light sweet notes at the end, but are relatively subdued, and a hint of fruits. Aftertaste shows mostly bitterness and medicinal/pungent flavours with alcohol, permanent marker and dry oak the strongest tastes. Overall, an interesting beer - this one smells a lot different than it taste, but unfortunately it only gets worse with time spent with this. Not really worth trying and not really a biere de garde. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from the Phoenicia Market in Houston, Texas on 10-August-2013 for US$3.49 sampled at home in Washington on 02-March-2014.

33cl bottle. BB 11.06.16. Poured copper color with a huge, frothy, lacing white head. Sweet, honey-like aroma, yeast and some malt and dark fruits. Mellow, pleasant. Flavor is sweetish, malt, caramel, some warming alcohol towards finish, along with some hoppy notes. mild bready notes in the long finish along with sweet fruits. Tasty.

Évaluation no. 104 - Juillet 2011. Au nez, de légers houblons et de subtils caramels. La couleur est cuivrée et floue. La mousse est abondante et très persistante. L’attaque est assez houblonnée avec des notes légères de caramel. Combinaison alcool et acidité très défini. Rappelle les lambics.

Bottle at home. Bought it at the St Albans Beer festival four months ago and couldn’t wait any longer. Reddish gold, plentiful carbs and a big off-white head. A hint of strawberries adds to an earthy, yeasty, malty aroma. A pleasant metallic adage also identifiable in the aroma. Taste is bittersweet, doughy and alcoholic (but not too much so). Full creamy texture with the carbonation adds to the palette. Long complex finish. A proper treat. I’m surprised at how nice this is.
