500ml bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours clear pale golden yellow, with initially a good head, but this fades. Aromas are grassy hops and bread with light malt. Big barley taste coming through, not much else. Good creamy texture though, and finishes short and dry.

Clear pale golden-yellow, rocky white head, good retention. Aroma roasty, grass, dough. Taste light sweetness, medium bitterness, slightly sour. Light to medium body, sticky texture, soft carbonation, nice bitter finish with a touch of acidity, a well-balanced crisp and smooth beer.

Bottle. Lemony nose, grass, light malts. Pale gold color with a lacy head. Very sweet, fruity, malty flavor, a bit of butter. Lemony. Rich and sweet and not a proper kolsch imo.

50cl bottle pours with a crystal clear gold body that supports a near white head of foam. The aroma offers up malt and cereal malt sweetness mixed with light floral and corn nuanced lime notes. The taste delivers a decent load of hops that have a bitter edge to them from the likes of floral and spicy and slightly green citrus notes that create a bit of a heavy experience. Behind those notes are sugary malts with a touch of cracker. Decent.

500ml bottle. Clear pale yellow colour, foam white head that diminishes and aroma of malt & hop. Taste is sweet malty, crisp with some fruitiness and a slightly spicy bitterness. Light bodied, well carbonated, some residual sweetness in the finish. Quite OK.

Catch up rating from notes, 2011: Bottle picked while travelling through Koln. Another of the standard kolsch lagers, pale golden with foamy head, bready, biscuity, malty goodness with a nice hops bite at the finish. Not outstanding, but solid all around.
