Cask at the brewery tap. Pours dark amber to reddish brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of malts, light toasting, lightly smoked, hop, fruit, hint of chocolate. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness. Medium body, slight oily texture, soft to flat carbonation. Grower.

Cask at PoW. Some sweet tinged malts but overall lacking in aroma. Has the appearance of a flat glass of coke. Light bitter with a sweet and sour edge. All rather low key though. Light in body and thin. Average carbonation. Abrupt finish. Drinkable due to being so inoffensive but Pilgrim really do produce the blandest of beers.

Cask-conditioned at the Wenlock, London 20/12/08. Deep amber with a slight, off-white head. Sweet aroma of toffee, candied fruits and shortbread. Flavour was also sweet, with fruity malt and a hint of spice, ending with a moderately bitter finish. Ok.
