Tasted in Bruges, thanks Bart. Fruit BIPA from a small craft brewery in Texas, with creamy, pale yellowish beige, stable head and blackish robe with mahogany edges. Complex and fascinating aroma of cocoa, blackberry (in fact more so than the actually applied raspberry), cured meat, dried orange peel, bitter honey, fig, hazelnut, varnish, straw, pipe tobacco. Sweet candied date and raisin notes in the onset along with fruity sourishness but again, much more reminiscent of blackberry than raspberry, meaty umami touch, softish carbo, smooth and thick body of caramelly, nutty and toasted malts with indeed a dash of deeply spicy rye underneath, smoky accent but much more subtle than expected, long dry hoppy finish, spicy, grapefruity, bittering, along with some whisky-like alcohol. Probably the most elaborate black IPA I ever tasted with the inclusion of fruit, rye and smoked malts, but most of these elements get a bit lost into the whole - which, I hasten to add, is a very impressive one.

On tap at Cottonwood. Pours a very dark brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is plastic, wood, smoke. Medium mouth, roast, rye, fruity, off finish, ok.
