Beer made for some committee in Sint-Pauwels near Sint-Niklaas with reference to the ’Rode Ridder’ comics (red knight), hence the attempt to make it red, with artificial colorants - an effect they could easily have achieved otherwise, but anyway. Made by De Cock, who also brews the Sinpalsken beers at Van Steenberge. Rocky, thick, stable, off-pinkish head, orangey copper colour, clear. Weakish aroma of apricot, ginger, soap, cinnamon, walnuts, red beet (perhaps actually applied for colouring?), red berries. Refreshing fruity taste, vaguely sweetish with orange peel touch, supple and smooth palate with caramelly and weakly nutty maltiness, grassy hop bitterishness in the finish. Quite well-balanced actually, but its colour made me remember this more than its flavour.
