Pours a pitch black color, topped with a rather small beige colored head. Mild roasty malts in the aroma, some mild notes of chocolate and very pleasant and easily picked up chocolate and vanilla aromas. Taste has some chocolate sweetness up front, followed by mild roastiness with some minimal bitterness from coffee in the end. Very creamy and thick, full body with some minimal alcohol taste in the very end. That’s my kind of stout.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin bubbly off-white head. The aroma is least, light malt. Very Benelux! The flavour is moderate bitter with a light fruity, malt light liqourice, hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. I guess I was not hugely impressed as I live in the Netherlands and I think i’m tiring of Belgian yeast.

Pours pitch black with a tan head.Nose shows liquorice, chocolate, spicy phenols, a hint of cloves and cardamon, roasted malts and chocolate liqueur.Aggressively roasty flavours, nowhere near as sweet as the aroma suggests. Mainly focuses on roasted barley, liquorice and spicy phenols but there’s also a hint of coffee.Body feels a little light on, carbonation is a bit over the top.

Bottle, 12C. Very dark brown with a modest tan head that’s soon a coat. Aroma of mocha and brambles, molasses, a little nail polish. Very soft mouthfeel, luscious with low carbonation. Sweet with lots of dark sugars, earthy mocha, berries. Very gently edges towards bitterness at the end. Satisfyingly rich but easily drinkable with the odd jarring note.

Bottle @ home. Opaque black color, small a bit soapy brown head. Smell and taste malts, slightly sweetish next to a light bitterness, some toasted malts, a slight hint of chocolate and coffee. Low carbonation, average to medium body. Hmm not as good as I had hoped.
