Amager Rye Porter is the result of fruitful cooperation between the best of Danish and American brewing cultures. It’s base is made of hard roasted malts and 16% rye. It adds a fantastic sweetness, and a titillating spicy edge, which, combined with a subtle and balanced acidity, is reminiscent of rye bread. This is not a beer for the weak, we’re pleased with the outcome and hope you will be too.

Entered to celebrate my rating number 15,100. Draft and bottled. A pitch black beer with a huge brown head. The aroma has strong notes of rye as well as notes of soy sauce, roasted malt, and a bit of alcohol. The flavor is quite sweet with strong notes of rye as well as notes of roasted malt, chocolate, alcohol, and some soy sauce, leading to a smooth, alcoholic, and chocolaty finish.

Black color; big creamy head. Nice cheesy roasted malt aroma. Very yeasty (in a positive way), breadish. Very smooth mouthfeel, good roasted malt flavor with hints of liquorice. The light sourness gives some dynamism to this beer. Chocolatey finish. Excellent.

On tap at Copenhagen Beerfestival. A black beer with a lovely, creamy, finger-thick tan had that lasts and leaves lacings. Roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, alcohol and citrusy hops in the aroma. Roasted flavor with coffee, some chocolate, hints of vanilla and dried fruits, and some alcohol. Good bitterness too, mostly coffee-like bitterness that lasts a good while. Full-bodied and nicely carbonated. A lovely porter. (090515)

Bottle 50 cl. Pours a hazy dark brown with an orange hue and a dense and stable light brown head. Aroma of hard roasted malt, vanilla and fruit. Quite full-bodied with a soft mouthfeel, notes of licorice and vanilla. The hoppy finish is present yet downplayed. 041008

100ml served from tap at Copenhagen Beer Festival 09. Light brownish foam over a very dark body with a ruby tint. Inviting aroma of well roasted malts. Featuring flavours of chocolate and liquorice with bitter coffee grounds towards the finish. Full bodied and exciting version of the porter style (15.05.2009).
