Amager Rye Porter is the result of fruitful cooperation between the best of Danish and American brewing cultures. It’s base is made of hard roasted malts and 16% rye. It adds a fantastic sweetness, and a titillating spicy edge, which, combined with a subtle and balanced acidity, is reminiscent of rye bread. This is not a beer for the weak, we’re pleased with the outcome and hope you will be too.

Tap at Rattle n Hum. Pours dark brown with a thick, tan head. Sharp aroma with roasted malts, rye and light hops. Flavor is fairly sweet and roasty, with notes of cocoa, caramel and brown sugar. Full bodied, thick and chewy with average carbonation. Finishes with some pronounced bitterness but also plenty of dry roast. Excellent beer.

Huge brown head. Opaque black body goes just barely dark red at edges. Spicy roasty malty aroma with sugary rye and lacquer notes. Dry-sweet roasty burnt coffee taste with oily resiny spicy notes. Sharpish hot mouthfeel, but taste is also faintly rounded. Might benefit from some cellaring, perhaps. Dry spicy wooden lacquer aftertaste with chocolate and yeast notes. Burnt dusty chocolatey taste lingers. Nice, but a bit harsh, despite all the sweetness. (0.5l bottle, Fish and Beer, Copenhagen.)

having previously drunk quite a lot of this massive beer it was time give it proper rating. It poured pitch black with a huge dark beige head. Aroma had dark chocolate, burned malt, plenty of hops and rye. Flavour was sweet and seriously hoppy with loads of burned malt, dark chocolate, pine, rye, dark chocolate, english liquerice and grapefruits. Bone dry and bitter finish. What a massive stout even though it is only a 8,5% beer. Perfect balance. Incredible.

Tap sample at stout tasting at In de Wildeman. Deep dark brown to black colour, light brown head. Aroma of coffee, moccha, dark fruits, alcohol, chocolate. Flavour is sweet, roasted malts, rye, coffee, chocolate, alcohol, some vodka like alc as well, good roasted coffee bitter finish. Fullbodied, smooth mouthfeel.

Toweringly huge, dense dark-beige head, which proves unstoppable @ pouring; very dark brown beer; lots of lace. Coffee, moccha, and dark chocolate in the nose, semi-sweet, very roasted; "creamy" nose, if that makes any sense. Very roasted to burnt flavour with bitter chocolate, coffee and tobacco. Quite dry, despite a remaining mild-sweet impression. Some ripe banana retronasal. Well-bodied, slick and some alcoholwarming. Alcohol comes out after swallowing, no doubt partly responsible for the sweetness perceived. Decent porter with good balance: sweet, but nowhere too sweet.

Bottle 500ml.Clear medium to dark brown color with a large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, light brown to beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, rye, licorice, moderate hoppy, grapefruit, light alcohol. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20081004]

Hi Dear, Bottle, 2010-05-22, Göteborg AR: roasted malt, north american hops Loads of salmiak in the foam. AP: Brownish black body, dark brown head (3 cm high) F: salmiak, great bittterness more like a stout in style, some coffey and a long bitter finish. = 3,3 After 10 min Softer and as well a flavor of Thaiti vanilla beans. And perhaps some sweetness! = 3,5

Copenhagen Beer Festival 2010 - Brown with red tinges. Smoky aroma with hints of ham and caramel. Smoky taste with caramel and nuts.

Bottled, thanks baggio! Almost completely black, rich head. Dusty fruity nose. Dry and well rounded with full body. Dense and somewhat bready with peppery alcohol coming through in a finish with growing bitterness.
