Rerate, 500 ml bottle, batch #461, will soon be available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.5%. Black colour, moderate tan head. The dryish aroma has notes of cold strong coffee and roasted malts, hints of woodwork and unsweetened liquorice. The flavour has initially some sweetness, but ends dry and very roasty, with a solid hoppy bitterness to boot. Notes of strong coffee again, hints of unsweetened liquorice and dark bitter chocolate. I’m upping it one point. Original rating: At Copenhagen Beer Festival. Black colour. Moderate roasty (coffee) notes in both aroma and flavour, hints of rye bread. Drinkable, absolutely nothing wrong with it, but as this is Amager, I expected something even better. BTW, we brewed a homebrew porter last year with exactly the same ratio of rye malts in it, and thought it was better than this. Did not taste them side by side, though - and we might have been slightly biased, or slightly drunk ...

Copenhagen Beer Festival. Opaque black stout. Thick creamy tan head. Interesting stout, soft and silky but has that distinctive rye spiceyness. Smooth and tasty.

50 cl bottle thanks to rlgk! On February 4, 2011BB 08.2013Dark brown to black color, fluffy brown head. Grainy, malty, chocolate cent, also salty. Smooth, malty, dry, grainy taste. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bitterness.

Bottle, 10C. Opaque dark brown with a large puffy tan head. Plenty of vaguely sour rye in the aroma, along with roasted malt, prunes, licorice and vanilla. Taste has sweet caramel, licorice, firm roast with a little charring. A little fruit and vanilla. Hops - kumquats, grass, pine - overshadow the roasted bitterness right at the end. Some cocoa and coffee there too. A bit ungracious and soy-saucy at first, but mellowed as it warmed - more coffee and less licorice seemed there. Good, but too hoppy and leans towards suffocating rather than enveloping.
