Amager Rye Porter is the result of fruitful cooperation between the best of Danish and American brewing cultures. It’s base is made of hard roasted malts and 16% rye. It adds a fantastic sweetness, and a titillating spicy edge, which, combined with a subtle and balanced acidity, is reminiscent of rye bread. This is not a beer for the weak, we’re pleased with the outcome and hope you will be too.

50cl bottle pours a watery, mostly opaque black with garnet edges and very little, spitty tan head. Nose is really nice, like the crust of a great loaf of brown bread, malty, plenty of rye, cereal grains, light molasses. Just an awesome, bready nose. Flavor is similar, light coffee, light cherry, light raisin, plenty of molasses, some brown sugar, tons of bread, spicy rye, toasted grains, cereal. Full bodied, but dry finish. Exemplary for the style.

(Draught at Örsted Ölbar, Copenhagen, 6 July 2012) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of coffee, chocolate, cocoa and dark rye bread. Malty, roasted taste with coffee, chocolate, dark bread and a generous cocoa bitterness in the finish. Almost full body, with just a touch of sweetness. Well balanced and very tasty. Excellent porter.

Pours black with a large, lasting head.Nose shows chocolate, cocoa, liquorice, roasted malt and soft coffee. Sweet smelling.Big roaster flavours, some coffee but no where near as interesting as the aroma. Too much booze. Finishes with a big roasty finish.Could use more carbonation, very syrupy.

50 cl bottle @ home. Rated on 02.06.2011
Aroma has licorice, rye and hints of coffee. Thick palate. Flavour is rich with licorice and rye. This one had a lots of elements I love in this beer style. At the bottom of the bottle we detected one of the largest yeast particles I’ṿe seen. And the bottom 5 cl were very murky with yeast.

Very dark brown. Thin head and a very roasty aroma. Smooth, soft palate with some rye chewiness in an otherwise dry finish. Some subtle orchard fruits break up the intensity in a way that does not disrupt the balance.

Svart. Kjempehøyt kremaktig skum med litt brunfarge. Skummet klistrer seg til glasset. Pent! Lakrisaroma. Fyldig smak: Frukt & lakris. Syrlig fruktig ettersmak hvor lakrissmaken vedvarer. Et utmerket øl!
