500ml bottle from Hop Vault, Stourbridge, online. Pour dark brown, moderate sized beige head, modest retention. Aroma is mainly roasted malts with hints of nuts, some sweetness. Taste is roasted malts, chocolate, dried fruits, nuts, semi-sweet. Very pleasant. Light bodied but has a nice smoothness. Good.

Cask at Greyhound, Stafford. Pours almost black with a small foamy tan head. There’s a generally fruity aroma with some roasted malts. In the mouth it is slightly bitter, but with also a fruity sourness and a creamy texture. Roast malts come through eventually, as do hints of liquorice. Finish is somewhat sour. This was OK, but I suspect it needs to be rerated as it was past its best.
