330ml bottle. Clear, minimally reddish chestnut colour with average, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Roasty grainy aroma, dark malty, cocoa, cautious hints of red and dark berries, minimally funky yeast. Taste is dry, dark malty, bitter-burnt, very cautious hints of red and dark berries, spicy yeasty; soft palate, soft, somehow late prickling carbonation. (Last pour: very hazy, more fruity).

Opaque dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Smooth palate, dry. Minerals. Malt cream and a little spice. Mellow coffee. Finishes dry. Not bad.

Bottle from The Beerhive. Dark brown body with a thin off-white head. Weird aroma of beef stock and salted caramel. Savoury, nutty flavour. Medium body with a slightly oily texture. Average carbonation. Easily the worst Partizan beer I’ve tasted to date.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at the brewery. Pours clearish russet with a large, frothy tan head. Lovely aroma, some well toasted malts, hints of cocoa and caramel, touches of ripe and slightly dried fruits. Medium sweet with subtle Belgian yeast, some dry but lightly doughy brown bread, ripe fruits, hints of grapes and berries, mild toffee, light bitter leaves. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Moderate sweetness to finish with a nice though mild dry, earthy bitterness to balance it out, along with dried fruits, berries, hints of toffee, rich bread and background Belgian yeast. Great beer overall. Very well balanced and exceedingly drinkable.

Bottle at home, from the brewery, 01/10/13. Pours mahogony brown with a thin light beige covering that clears to a pond. Nose is brown sugar, earthy, tarte dark fruits, stewed dates, woody notes, nutty tones. Taste comprises dark toffee, dates, raisens, brown sugar, dark fruits, earthy, light cocoa powder, brown bread, yeasty notes kick in towards the end of the bottle as one would expect and the beer ’murks’ up! Medium bodied, carbonation is a little overpitched and too prickly for my liking, dry finish with sweetness coming through. Good first stab at a dubbel.
