The fermentation with top-fermenting yeast ran quickly in wooden, open vats at temperatures of 18-20 ° C. This led to a violent, rapid carbonation, which caused large gas bubbles on the "ceiling" (foam above the liquid). These burst from time to time, giving the impression that "the beer is steaming". The name "steam beer" was born!

0.5l bottle. Clear amber/copper colour with a small beige head. Aroma of sweet malts, caramel, banana, a little fruity. Taste is sweet, malty, prominent banana esters, bready, a little caramel, a little fruity, mild herbal hints. Light-medium bodied.
My first Dampfbier so nothing to compare to, but I enjoyed this. Sort of made me think of a lighter bodied Dunkelweizen, especially with those banana esters.

Tap at Zwiesel. Clear chestnut. Malty, damp. Soft and full, light and creamy. Bread, butter. Like it.
Old rating 15.10.22 Bottle. Light clear brown. Wooden Whisky boozy ale. Sticky vanilla booze and ale. Bit flat.

Аромат очень сладкий, много солода, почти ничего более, прямо сладкая кашка из злаков. Цвет чуть темнее чем лагер, пенка неплохая и белая, пышная. Вкус тоже очень легкий и приятный. Снова много сладости, местами кажется что больше чем надо. Но все равно освежает и злаки снова прямо чувствуются. В послевкусие слегка настигает сухость от хмеля но на несколько секунд.

Bottle at Café Brecht, Amsterdam. Caramel malt aroma with nutty notes, toasted malt, some fruity notes, spicy yeast, hint of banana. Fairly sweetish, medium body. Not bad.

Bottle with swingtop 0,5 ltr: Clear amber coloured brew with an smooth sweet bitter taste. Hints of caramel, fruits, nuts and some spiciness.

Light hazy amber colour, white foam. Nose of caramel, bready notes, light hop profile.

Bottle from Rewe in Tittling (D). Color: Lightly hazy amber, off-white head. Aroma: Malty, caramel notes. Taste: Quite dense and almost a bit foamy mouthfeel. Light grainy sourness (barley malt), malty, subtle caramel. Moderate to over moderate sweet, very light hopbitterness. Over medium body, just below average carbonation. Very interesting beer, also interesting to read more about the historic brewing proces of Dampfbier on the website of the brewery. Nice one.

Aus der Flasche (bbe 11.06.2023) im 2022-12 getrunken. Dieses braune Bier mit rötlichen Reflexen kommt mit einen süffigen, malzigen Körper und feine Süße daher. Sicher ein sehr gute Begleiter zum Essen!

Bottle picked up from the brewery in Zwiesel and consumed at home Saturday 22nd October 2022 listening to Nova Twins on Tidal we are cooking Greek Lamb Meatballs, Feta and Tomato Bake for tea tonight. Pours chestnut brown, excellent clarity with an off white head. Difficult to categorise, but with a nod towards a bitter but clearly in a germanic lager style, soft moutheel, a little fruity, malty. Fine.
