They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. While this hearty rye ale isn’t a Manhattan, it’s aged in fresh bourbon barrels with spices and fruit to give it that signature flavor. Close your eyes and you can almost taste the sweet vermouth, the bitters and the sour cherry.
We didn’t replicate the cocktail glass, but if you’re feeling fancy, feel free to drink this out of one.

Pour is a dark brown with some read highlights around the edges. Not much of a head. Aroma is white oak bourbon barrel. Flavor is bourbon barrel oak with some cherry tartness and a decent hit of booze. Super heavy and thick mouthfeel. Not bad, a nice bourbon barrel all around with a large alcohol presence. If ever there was a beer made for a cigar this would be it.

Bottle - dark ruby pour - low carbonation, nearly still - I was really excited to try this, as Manattans are my second favorite cocktail - I’ve gotta say they nailed the aroma - it really does smell like a Manhattan - whiskey, oak, dark fruit sweetness emulating vermouth - flavor is sweet but not cloying, the rye really shining through in the base beer and barrel treatment - the plum addition really does a good job of providing a vermouth-like character and the cherry is understated but present - I really dig this.
