2022 bottle from Beer Republic. It pours darkest brown to black with quite an impressively dark brown head. The aroma is intoxicating bitter - sweet vibes, oily, heavy vanilla fudge, toffee, butterscotch ice cream, sweet milky coffee, boozey bourbon, nutty, praline, espresso with brown sugar and chocolate cake. The taste is dry roasted malt, rich dark roasted malt, rather bitter actually, almost ashy, deep roasted coffee, espresso, charred oak, burnt toffee, burnt toast, some toasted spice in there, boozey slap, vanilla fudge, some tannin and toasted spice and heady booze through a roasty finish. Fulsome body and average carbonation. Given the name I actually thought this was going to be too sweet, but I'd anything the opposite is true. It super bitter and more savoury than sweet. An interesting edition, but not my personal favourite as it is a touch harsh. Good nonetheless.

Bottle. Pours almost black with a tan head. Roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, maple, fudge, alcohol.

On tap @Treefolk's (Rome). Nera, densa, impenetrabile, schiuma color cappuccino, media, discretamente persistente. Al naso note di sciroppo d'acero, cappuccino, vaniglia, caffè verde, cioccolato. In bocca è dolce all'attacco, con chiusura amara, più caffettosa, scaldandosi esce lo sciroppo d'acero, rotonda e complessa. Corpo pieno, carbonazione media. Molto intensa, ma un po' sgraziata.
