Imperial Stout with Mackinac Fudge Coffee, Maple Syrup and Chocolate Aged in Oak Bourbon Barrels
Michigan didn’t invent old-fashioned fudge, but it was perfected here. We pay tribute to this time-honored tradition with KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge. By amplifying the rich chocolate notes of KBS using Mackinac Fudge coffee, then adding maple syrup and aging it in oak bourbon barrels, we’ve created a bold new take on our barrel-aged classic – one that could only have originated in Michigan.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of chocolate notes with some fudge notes and vanilla and bourbon notes are also perceptible. Taste is a mix of chocolate/fudge with some maple notes and some vanilla and bourbon notes also clearly identifiable. Body is pretty full with good carbonation and light warming alcohol notes. Soldi BA stout with some good adjunct but it does get a little bit cloying at some point.

Bottle: Very dark brown pour with a small tan head. Huge aroma of espresso and fudge, vanilla, and bourbon barrel. The fudge aspect comes true in the flavor. Super well balanced coffee and fudge notes, light roasted malt and the bourbon barrel notes are very complimentary. One of my favorite stouts in the last 4-5 years.

Thanks to Dave. Almost clear dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Smooth palate, mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth light malts, a little dark chocolate. Whisper of soft coffee. Thankfully soft maple, obvious but smooth. Light finish. Fine.

Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Dave. Pours clear deep brown with a frothy mocha topping. Big sweet flavour with lightly artificial chocolate flavour, well toasted malts, earth, raisins. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Minimal warmth in the finish, strong adjunct cocoa, earth, ash. Not bad overall.

Bottle at the columbus tasting 24/11/2022. Many thanks to Wingman for this one. A dark mahogany brown coloured pour with a lasting loose mid tan head. Aroma is lovely big fresh coffee, coffee bean, cascara, ashy roast, ashy roast, warming alcohol. Flavour is composed of medium sweet, caramel coffee, rusty penny, rich dark brown sugars, cocoa, woody coffee, maple sugars. Nice. Palate is semi sweet, oily, moderate carbonation. Lovely.

Bottle shared at Level 6 sourced from a US bottleshop. Pours black with a thin dirty tan head. Aroma is maple, coffee, fudge, chocolate. Taste is maple syrup, coffee, fudge, chocolate. Nice coffee bitterness balances the maple fudge sweetness. Nice stuff.

Thea are intense chocolate with a little roast and maybe a hint of molasses. Flavors are a lot like nose, super well-balanced sweet to bitter to carbonation. Not overly sweet and very smooth and easy drinking with a hint of alcohol burn in the finish. Really really good stuff.
