Imperial Stout with Mackinac Fudge Coffee, Maple Syrup and Chocolate Aged in Oak Bourbon Barrels
Michigan didn’t invent old-fashioned fudge, but it was perfected here. We pay tribute to this time-honored tradition with KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge. By amplifying the rich chocolate notes of KBS using Mackinac Fudge coffee, then adding maple syrup and aging it in oak bourbon barrels, we’ve created a bold new take on our barrel-aged classic – one that could only have originated in Michigan.

Bottle from Voldby. Black with a lasting brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, chocolate, maple syrup, vanilla and bourbon. Flavor is very sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish with warming alcohol. Oily and soft. 280321

Pours black with a tan head. It smells like chocolate milk. There's some roast malt and vanilla and some other stuff in there too, but my first thought was definitely chocolate milk. The flavor is sweet and full of chocolate with roast malt and a little coffee. If the bourbon is in there, it's minimal. Full bodied. Really tasty.

355ml bottle, vintage 2020 and barrel aged, bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Stable, dense, fawn-coloured head over a jet black body, laces fine. Big nose of grainy chocolate and cocoa. Prominent nutty chocolate to the taste profile joined by mild syrup and wood. Smoothly roasted ending of lingering chocolate-coffee. Full bodied, enjoying sipper on a Friday eve at home. Huge greige head over black beer; rings of lace which is rare for such a potent brew. Hazelnuts in Irish coffee with espresso chocolate, sweetened. Chocopasta. Bitter chocopasta in the flavour. Coffee, mocha, cacaopowder, vanilla. Bitter chocolate warming up. Utterly chewy, full bodied, alcoholheat. I'm sure a lot of saints will lover this, but I won't be in their number. Thanks to Stef!
