Imperial Stout with Mackinac Fudge Coffee, Maple Syrup and Chocolate Aged in Oak Bourbon Barrels
Michigan didn’t invent old-fashioned fudge, but it was perfected here. We pay tribute to this time-honored tradition with KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge. By amplifying the rich chocolate notes of KBS using Mackinac Fudge coffee, then adding maple syrup and aging it in oak bourbon barrels, we’ve created a bold new take on our barrel-aged classic – one that could only have originated in Michigan.

Thick, black and oily with a medium sized head. Strong cocoa and coffee - a touch burnt - with toasty malt, maple, butterscotch, bourbon and floral hops. Long finish. Full bodied.

Rating number 5,100. 12 ounce bottle. Bottled on 9/24/2020. Luxurious opaque brown color. Dense creamy tan head is finger high. Rich roasted malt and chocolate fudge aroma. Intense bittersweet chocolate flavor upfront. Notes of coffee and maple syrup with a hint of oak as well. Big boozy notes in middle. Soft mouthfeel makes this smooth going down. Very tasty and best enjoyed sipping slowly.

Bottle from Gedeelde Vreugde. Cloudy black, big, foamy, dark beige head. Intense aroma of coffee beans, sweetened espresso, dried fig, fondant, oak wood, dark fudge, burnt pancake, maple syrup, tobacco, damp earth, vague leather. Taste has sweet dried fig, plum, raisin, coated in a thick chocolate maltiness, sweetened fondant or perhaps not-so-creamy milk chocolate, some nuts on top but way less obvious than the maple syrup and the dark fudge. Bitter coffee bean in the middle along a quite earthy, raw roasted profile. Ends earthy, bit peppery hoppy with lingering coffee roast, fondant, maple syrup and warming but still rather well-hidden alcohol, somewhere between coffee liqueur and actual vanilla-ish bourbon. Full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Sweet, very sweet almost but not over-the-top, fitting well into the oak & coffee body. Delicious!

Bottle picked up from Saveur-Biere webshop nr Lille, France. Consumed at home Saturday 8th May 2021 we had Meatballs and Asparagus which was cooked in the wood oven. Pours an impenetrable shark eye black with a light beige head that swiftly collapsed and was consumed by the oily blackness beneath. Bitter cocoa powder and chocolate on the nose with a subtle waft of the barrel ageing and a little roasted coffee bean. Super smooth, super indulgent, chocolate to the fore, honey, syrup, a little oakiness, coffee, caramel, it's all here and finishes with a little burnt roastiness, thick mouthfeel This is a great stout, okay it's a little bit sweet but it's a great beer.

35,5 cl bottle @ home. Bottled 26.10.2020. Aroma has sweet chocolate tones. Flavour has maple syrup, vanilla and licorice. Finishes with warming alcohol. A bit too foamy palate. Sweet and complex, just delicious.

Bottle. A- Dark fudge, fresh coffee, maple. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Dark fudge, rich, mild sweetness, vanilla, maple, mocha, subtle char, coffee, roasty, faint bitterness. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, decadent finish. O- This took forever to find and at $28 a four pack definitely overpriced but had to get. Can't wait to age a bottle or two and see how it transforms. If I had only drank 4-6 oz of this I'd have probably said it was 5 stars. Actually enjoyed it substantially more when it was on the colder side. As it warmed, the maple, fudge and general sweetness subsided into more of a roasty vibe. The alcohol started to show a bit as well. I'm caught somewhere between a perfect 5 and a 4.6 on this one.

pours pitch black, medium sized, very stable, darkly tanned, very creamy head. Scent is very coffee forward. Maple is very mild, but traceable. Roasty, dark chocolate. Taste is full, surprisingly bitter ( balanced ! ) , coffee (not overpowering) . mild maple - good for balance, this beer has amazing balance. but given the name I expected more maple than this. Thick bodied, medium low to low carbo. Nice roastyness. Not at all to sweet, and less booze-forward than KBS. A quite enjoyable stout indeed !

330ml bottle at Battle of Bull, Cheras, Malaysia. Poured a clear dark brown, almost black colour with a mostly lasting frothy light tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, big milk chocolate, lactose. The flavour is moderate to strong sweet, with a smooth, roasty, sweet maple syrup, chocolate, light liqourice bitter palate. Wow. Just wow!

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dima's place. Black, tan foam. Chocolate, fudge, caramel, vanilla, bourbon, some maple, a bit of soy sauce, sweet, quite rounded. Great.
