33 cl bottle @ home, a bit past the best before date. Black color. Beige head with little retention. Aroma’s of sweet chocolate, light roast, some berries. More roasty retronasal, mocha, red fruit. Flavor is light sweet, coffee-ish, roasty. Light bodied (almost thin). Short finish, light roasty. Quite nice actually.

On tap at Hitachino Brewing Lab, Tokyo. Close to black with a modest, but lasting beige head. Aroma of roasted malt with some milky notes, dark chocolate and dark fruits. Medium sweet with a medium flavour intensity and a slightly dry and lightly bitter finish. Mild and easy to drink, not to exciting, but certainly decent. --- Beer merged from original tick of Lacto Sweet Stout on 13 Apr 2016 at 12:48 - Score: 6

330 ml bottle, from Matkroken Stokka. BB date 01.2014. Black colour, large to moderate tan head. Aroma of lactose and moderately roasted malts, hints of chocolate. Smooth mouthfeel. The flavour is nice and smooth, with mild roasty notes, some lactose (but not too sweet), hints of mild coffee and chocolate. Pleasant and easy to drink. Might well buy again.

Bottle from Hasegawa. Pours a deep brown to black with a small latte colored ring around the edge. Roasted malt aromas abound with some fresh prune. Cola-like mouthfeel with some roasty bitterness on the palate. Sourness comes out as it warms along with some light creamer. Body is pretty thin and slightly watery though. Pretty average beer that doesn’t come together that well. Bitter and watery finish. --- Beer merged from original tick of Lacto Sweet Stout on 26 Oct 2015 at 23:58 - Score: 6

Bottle from Taniguchi. Pouring a deep reddish brown that settles black in the glass with a fizzy/foamy tan head. The nose is definitely sweet with that lacto character to it, savoury dark chocolate with hints of roastiness. Medium bodied with a scratchy carbonation rather than the velvety smoothness I am looking for. The taste is roasty, dark chocolate, sweet a touch of candied figs or plums. Decent. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a pitch black with a 1 finger head of tan foam with plenty of sticky lacing.

It smells milky, a bit on the sweet side, not a lot of firmness to the aromas.

The taste starts off sweetish, has that Milk Stout flavour though it IS subdued because of the low abv. It finishes neutral taste wise and watery body wise.

A true session ale here but I’m not leaning towards buying a lot more and sessioning.

Bottle from Sourced Market, St Pancras. Black beer lasting thick tan head. Very lacto on the aroma. Some medium sweet stout flavour in the mouth. Not much on the finish. Very lacto and not really my thing, but ok.
