Bottle. A dark brown one, with a reddish hue, and a small, dense, light beige head. The aroma has chocolate and some cocoa, and a licorice touch. The flavor is roasted and coffeeish, with dark toffee, dried figs and cocoa as well. Some bitterness. Quite sweet. Full to medium body, with a pleasant carbonation level. Some metallic notes in the finish. A quite tasteful one, but I’m not impressed. 131123

Bottle @ fonefan tasting. Clear very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, lactose sugar, chocolate and cocoa. Flavor is quite sweet and light bitter. Sweet and roasted light bitter finish. 231113

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a deep mahogany with a thin frothy white head. The aroma is of rich roasted malt and a little caramel. The flavour is medium to weak bitter with lots of malt, weak liqourice, a hint of coffee and a slightly smooth creamy palate. This deserves a higher rating IMO.

Aroma is sweetish with cocoa, milk chocolate and hints of hay. Flavour is slightly sweet with milk chocolate, some cocoa, lactic notes, licorice and roastiness. Finishes with ash. The lactic notes do not quite fit in but this is still rather nice to be a 4% ABV beer.

330ml bottle. Almost black colour with average, creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, tan head. Dark malty aroma with a grainy touch, hints of milk chocolate, dark berries. Taste is minimally sweet, hints of dark fruit, blueberry, blackberry, a tart touch; dry finish with hints off coffee.
