Hestia, the maiden goddess of the hearth who presided over the baking of bread, mankind's staple food.
Inspired by bakeries and kitchens, within and outside House of Funk, we have recreated the traditional beverage of Kvass. Kvass is an Eastern European and Asian low-alcohol beverage made with bread.Driven to reduce waste, we gathered bread ends and baking waste from our kitchen at House of Funk, and our amazing neighbours and friends at Bad Dog Bread.

Mashed with sourdough bread, flaked rye, and Pilsner malt, Hestia was naturally soured overnight, before a fermentation with bakers yeast. Bread inspired flavours meet tart, low ABV drinkability.

On tap at House of Funk, pours a cloudy, dull golden, no head. Nose is earthy, with manure, some lemon tang - not all that pleasant. Flavour is lemony, salty and earthy with nothing all that pleasant about it. Inoffensive but also pointless. Not like the better European kvasses out there.

Soft dough and yeast aroma, cloudy yellow with little foam. Flavour is floral hops with some sweetness, mouthfeel is way too thin. Drinkable but not much to it.

Cloudy gold with a small white head. Light sulphur and light golden plum. Soured and dry plum with a clean finish. Solid.

Draught at the brewery
Cloudy blond colour with no head. It's smelly, poopy, not surprised, with a kvass. It's moderately sour, lemony, salty, with a little wheat touch. Drinkable.
