Arctic Devil Barley Wine, aptly named after the ferocious wolverine of the north, is an English-style barley wine that ages to perfection in oak barrels for several months before being blended, bottled and released in the fall. This highly acclaimed and awarded barley wine is a classic annual release of Midnight Sun, where a deceptively simple grain bill turns into big bold flavors hosting hints of caramel, vanilla, slight fruitiness, and strong malt sweetness that claw to the surface with every sip.

Taste is toffee, raisin, cinnamon, caramel, bitter herbal leafy hops, alcohol. Medium-full bodied. Nice barleywine.

Coutesy of Brad. Hazy dark amber with a medium beige head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, overripe fruits and caramel notes. Sweet flavour with hoppy, caramel, roasted malt and ripe fruits. Finished sweet with warming alcohol. Just not the day for it I’m afraid, though I fully appreciate it.

Props and cheers to ibrew2or3 for sharing this fantastic beer. Pours dark brown, off white head. Aroma is malty with hints of roast and caramel. Hints of barrel and whiskey. Overall sweetness lingering in the nose is amazing. Flavor, palate was elements that reminded me of ST Creme Brulee, it was overly sweet and filled with goodness, get some peanut butter, caramel, plenty of sugar with lots of malts and roast. Boozy as hell. Finish is thick and sticky, superbly roasted and caramelly. Overall barrel mouthfeel was weak and added a nice warming whiskey note to the palate without overpowering the whole.

Bomber from Liquid Solutions. Nose of raisin pie, toffee, and a hint of molasses; really malty! Cloudy brown with a big, light cinnamon tan head. Flavor is toffee, dried prunes, and mild alcohol which lasts to the finish with a slight bitter hint!

Bottle: Leather color with a finger of creamy beige head. Strong aroma is rich with faded citrus hops, toffee, and caramel. At first taste this is impressive! A smooth blend of toffee, dark fruits, sherry, and faded citrus hops. Faded, yet the flavors are so rich and intense... This is some seriously good stuff!

Pours dark brown with minimal tan head. Caramel, dark fruits, oak and slight hop aromas. Similar flavors with a little vanilla thrown in the mix. The oak ageing really adds nicely to the strong barley wine. The alcohol is hardly noticeable. Medium body with minimal carbonation and a syrupy mouthfeel. The best barley wine I have had so far.
