This is an impressive beer. Aroma of English hops, and a barleywine in the English style. lightly sweet, with plums and other fruits. Very low carbonation, nearly still. It is rare to find a barlleywine like this. A good surprise.

Bottle thanks to kyzr, 2005 bottling. Great, English style barely wine. Pours with a light brown head covering a muddy brown (red-tinged) body. Aroma of alcohol, caramel, plums, cohocolate, vanilla, and dark pitted fruits. Taste is boozy, with caramel, some nuts, brandy, dark fruits and a bit of cotton candy. Heavy, very creamy with light carbonation. Great northwest beer, thanks Mitch!

22 fl oz bottle, 05 vintage. Pours clear and golden amber with a lacing tan head. Aroma is dense malty and fruity. Mild roasted malt and solid fruity and malty with a nice hoppy note. Smooth and fruity finish yet also quite warming finish.

Bottled (10%), thanks Crosling! Hazy mahogany colour, minimal head. Deep raisiny sherry aroma. Sweet and full bodied. Sticky, but mature with complex vinous flavour of caramel and wood. Thick and warming. Has the malty warming complexity of J.W. Lees Harvest Ale. Just wonderful!

Bottled Jan 2 5 (?) Bomber from Liquid Solutions. Strongly malty aroma with an aged fortified wine aspect. Very dark brown color with garnet? hints at the edges. No head. Full bodied with mild, creamy carbonation. Rather syrupy. Maple. Some dark fruit. A bit of coffee at the finish. Also heat develops in the back of the throat. And wood. Quite a sipper.

07/09/08. - - Courtesy of tpd975. Pours amber with tan head. The aroma is big and inviting with caramel and rich dark fruity esters of grapes, plums and sweet berries before it heats up a bit. The taste is rich and yummy but does have some alcohol welling up. I get creamy caramel candy and some nutty roasty malts. Then the big dark fruitiness comes in and rides into the finish along with a warming alcohol sensation. Leaves a sweet lip smacking feeling behind.
Sampled at the O-Town throwdown. This beer has a nearly opaque copper color with thin tan head. The aroma is pretty big with lots of dark fruitiness and with hints of caramel and sweet malts. There also seems to be some whisky and alcohol in the background. The flavor is delicious barleywine dark and shriveled fruit flavors with a whisky and sweet caramel under currents. It ends sweet, syrupy and rather nice.

Many thanks to footbalm for sending this beer that has spent such a long time on my wants list. If this were more readily available, it would remain there, but this is a rare gem that should be shared. This pours a deep clear amber that produces a fleeting off-white head. Big caramel dominated complex aroma. Plenty of dried fruits and caramel characteristic of a good English Barleywine. Sweet and very smooth. Delightful sipper.

Bottle, 10%. Very nice aroma, sweet, fruity, creamy, dusty, vanilla, wood.Cloudy dark brown colour, some dark floaties. Small light brown head. The flavour is quite sweet, more or less the same as the aroma, plus some coconut. Quite peppery and nice.

Bottle poured a deep hazy, brown, w/ nridish tints. Small thin light tan head. Aroma was a wonderfull. sweet carmel, malt that you just wanted to drink in. Flavor was a very sweet malt, again with carmel and light roast notes. Quite obvious achol burn as it goes down, but you somehow don’t mind it. Low on the bittering for the style, which was fine for me. Sweet enough that it was nearly sugary or cloying. I suppose a bit unbalanced tchnically, but delicious none the less. Palate was a very soft cabonation, and a very smooth slick heavy feel. Very yummy, and underrated. Thanks, Buck Dich

A murky red-brown beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with a very powerful alcohol note, but also strong notes of over ripe fruits, malt, caramel, and cinnamon. The flavor is very sweet malty with lots of over ripe fruits, and caramel, leading to a nice hoppy end, with the alcohol burning the throat. I believe this will give You the warmth even in Alaska. The mouthfeel is very thick - I’ll describe it as an alcohol soup - how ever that’ll work, I have no idea?
