Ever since it put non-alcoholic beer on the map in 1979, Clausthaler has been the gold standard of the segment. With its own, specialized brewing technique, the pioneer still creates its signature non-alcoholic lager, Clausthaler Classic, in strict accordance with the German purity law. Its genuine real beer taste is well-balanced, fresh, and easy to drink, with a creamy feel on the palate and a pleasing golden color to match.

Called Original instead in my case, guessing its same, says alcohol up to 0.49% Smell- medium strong, acidic, drugs?, medicine?, something more. Foam- thin, light, not too soft, to watery side, weak bitter and hops notes around. Medium foam, large bubbles, white, watery foam and quite active. Appearance- clear yellow, orange amber, some carbonation bubbles at sides and tiny ones inside. Taste- hops, bitterness, weak citrus, really weak nonalco taste, might be just in head. Does not feel like nonalco beer, bit too bitter for me, still not bad.

Pours clear golden with a thin white head. Extremely sweet aroma, honey notes. Tastes like a typical premium lager with an excessive amount of sweetness. Palate is nonexistent. Not much different than any other cheap-beer sorta thing. Barely noticed the lack of alcohol.

500 ml bottle, bb 01/20.
Pale golden, clear body, with a medium, fluffy, lacing white head.
Aroma of grass, flowers, grains, some honey, slight citrus.
Tastes similar.
Medium, slick mouthfeel, with a fizzy carbonation.
Finishes light, medium sweet, medium bitter, a bit dry, floral, grainy, a bit bready.
OK. I've had worse alc free beers, very light of course, but at least clean and fresh. Nothing wrong about this as a thirst quencher.
