A high fermentation beer, Jenlain Ambrée is one of the first specialty beers in France and is been brewed since 1922. It owes its success to its inimitable taste stronger than all fashions. Its copper color, its aromas of cooked fruit and caramel make it a beer widely recognized for tasting but also a perfect ally for cooking.

Can picked up in France. Consumed in a field at Truck Festival, Steventon, Oxon Saturday 20.07.13 Pours amber with off-white head. Sone malty wafts from nose but also a slight boozy aroma. Taste is caramel, touch of metallic, light hoppiness and some fruit, touch of dryness, its ok. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1

Bottle: Poured hazy orange with a white head. Aroma was strong sweet malts. The taste was thin malts and light veggie.

Initial musty aroma of malt and hay. Dark clear amber with thick airy head. From there it starts to go downhill. Taste is weak and bland. Mouthfell is thin and watery with no lngering tastes on the palate. Expected better from this brew.

Bottle. Pours clear amber with plentiful but airy white head. Clear aroma of hops and malt with a touch of caramel and fruit. Pleasant, malty taste with caramel and roasty notes. Nice, sweetish aftertaste. A very good thing. Santé!

750ml bottle split with Anndiesel. Murky amber-brown body with a creamy off-white head. Pleasant, almost medium body despite the ABV. Creamy caramel and amber malt, some skunky hops. Sweet, doughy finish. Not overbearing with the Amber malt, which works for me. Rather its quite balanced and refreshing. Delicate, with some interesting pear, apple, cinnamon undercurrents. A unique, respectable offering.

"Es gibt tatsächlich ein gutes Bier aus Frankreich.", so habe ich 2012 gedacht, als ein Couchsurfer aus Rennes mir dieses Bier mitgebracht hat und ich muss sagen, es hat sich ausgezahlt... Gute Aromen auf feinem Körper

Amity Hall, NY bottle ($6): Pours an amber color with a white head. Aroma is sugary and yeasty. At first, the aroma seemed a bit off to me, but as it warmed, it improved. Taste is somewhat sweet. There ain’t no hops. Malty for the most part with some yeasty notes. Meh. Bier de gardes are just not that exciting.
