Our most traditional core beer is inspired by a Manchester stalwart; a fondly-remembered original. Speciality malt gives the deep golden colour and robust base, balanced by crisp bitterness and a floral, lemony aroma.

Quite the classic. Very old school, heavy on the bitter side. Not my favourite but it is true to style. Wildeman ams

Canned 2-2. Bit cloudy amber, frothy white head. Smells malty, caramel, some citrus peel. Pretty dense for the abv, low carbonation, nicely soft. Taste is lightly bitter. Some light orange marmalade, light bright fruityness. Very drinkable, not bad.

11/II/23 - on tap @ Bar Beenhouwer (Gent), BB: n/a (2023-150)
Clear orange to almost amber beer, small irregular white head, unstable, falls down quickly. Aroma: malty start, hay, grains, cow fodder, a bit dusty, ok. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: very very malty, not much else, grains, hay, some cow fodder, rural impression, more malts. Meh. Aftertaste: a little bitter, hay, cow fodder, a bit metallic, ok but not really great.

Cask at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours a hazy golden amber with a decent foamy off-white head and good lacing. Aroma is understated with a dollop of malts and hints of oranges. In the mouth it is initially sweet and creamy, but bitterness comes through very quickly along with traces of citrus, honey and even some spices. Finish is dry and bitter. Yeah this is a good approximation of what Boddies used to be like – made me fell all nostalgic !
