Named after a classic car owned by the boss’s father, Lagonda has been a house beer since 1997. The beer was originally designated an IPA but we feel pale ale better reflects current beer definitions. Pale in colour, the malts provide a sturdy body on which is built a citrus and floral hop character.

Small creamy offwhite head. Slightly hazy yellow body. Floral resiny grape aroma with herbal notes. Dry-sweet resiny grape taste with floral wooden notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft, flat mouthfeel. Dryish fruity orangey grape aftertaste with resiny spicy notes. Nice, drinkable, full of flavour. (0.284l cask at Marble Arch Inn, Manchester.)

Keg at Hanging Bat. Hazy golden brown with a good white head. Citrus, pine, grassy hops. Lots more hops coming through as it slips down. Bit one-dimensional to be honest, but not bad.

Cask at the Pelt Trader, Cannon St, 31/07/13. Lightly hazed golden with a medium sized off white cap, good lacing ensues. Nose is juicy hops, orange, light grapefruit notes. Taste comprises orange pith, light pine, grass. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, hop bitterness in a dry finish. Decent flavoursome low ABV cask IPA. Would happily session away on this baby!

Bottle from Beer Hive, Edinburgh [280513]
Amber, clear, bubbly rich frothy head, good lacing
Aroma - citrus hops, piney hop, soft resins, soft tropical fruits, good aroma
Taste - grapefruit citrus hops, zesty sweet fruits, nice bitter citrus zest hops, some tropical fruits, good fruity sweet pale malt background, lots of fruity hops, bitter grapefruit pith, great flavour
Palate - Soft carb, medium body, bitter grapefruit pithy palate, great soft mouthfeel and balance. Finish of bitter citrus, soft sweet fruity linger, some orange pith, dab of lemon
Overall - Excellent beer, really well balanced, great fruity zesty bitterness. Great condition for a bottled beer. I always thought this was inferior to Dobber which gets all the attention. This is, perhaps, just as good

Bottle from Birratrovo, Como
Golden color, hazy, with frothy head. A good hoppy Golden Ale, with more English yeast character than modern hop fruitiness. Dry and bitter.

500ml bottle from BeerRitz. Pours a clear golden amber colour, frothy white head and aroma of floral citrus hop & candy guava tropical fruit. Taste is caramel with tangy lemon rind & grapefruit citrus and a sharp earthy dry bitterness which lingers through to the finish. Initial soapy mouth feel, light to medium body, high carbonation. Quite drinkable.

Botttle from Bernie’s Off Licence, Shirley, Solihull. Poured a slightly cloudy medium amber, with a thin white frothy head. The aroma is hugely grassy and floral. The flavour is bitter and hoppy with loads of citrus and spice on the palate. This really is a gorgeous and very refreshing beer!
