Named after a classic car owned by the boss’s father, Lagonda has been a house beer since 1997. The beer was originally designated an IPA but we feel pale ale better reflects current beer definitions. Pale in colour, the malts provide a sturdy body on which is built a citrus and floral hop character.

Bottle from Bier Huis, Ossett. Murky orange. No head. Minimal carbonation. Condition is dubious, but despite that, there’s plenty to like. Citrus pith. Fresh and dry, with light bitterness at the end.

(Cask at Southampton Arms, Kentish Town, London, 20 Nov 2013) Golden colour with brief, white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with citrus, resin, grass, apricots and biscuity malt. Fruity, malty taste with notes of citrus, grapefruit, resin, dried apricots and an impressive citric bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with balanced sweetness. Tasty, fresh and quite bitter. Nice one.
