The Belgian Strong Ale is a beer very close to our hearts. Big berry bouquet of cranberry, tart cherry, and blueberry mix with notes of figs, raisins, caramelized sugars, and Belgian candi syrup. Classic Belgian flavor, with a medium body and dry finish, makes this a deceptively drinkable strong ale.

Bottle at home from my monthly city beer box. Ruby dark pour and smallish head. Nose is fig and Belgian yeast. Tastes of plum, fig, jammy, yeast, orange marmalade, tobacco. Thinner bodied.

Bottle shared at Blacked out Friday. Thanks Jason! Pours a deep brown to black with a finger of beige head that dissipates. Lots of candi sugar on the nose with fig, prune and some spiced apple as it warms. Similar on the palate with some toffee and dark chocolate notes that enter towards the end. Not bad.

The Aromas are dark malt, mint and solvents. Flavors are somewhat like nose, generic dark Belgian with no off qualities. Sweet up front with a little bitterness in the Finish. Good carbonation and body. Okay beer. Not much sign of the strength.
