During the 2019 cherry harvest, we processed 3 different varieties of cherries. This blend mainly contains Noordkriek and a small amount of Kelleris. This from local growers in the Antwerp region, a fruit region that has almost completely disappeared but has recently seen some new initiatives. The maturation took place in ex-Bourgogne and ex-Bordeaux casks. The Merlot we used is the barrel aged version of our Pet Bière 2019. After a period of 9 months in an ex-Bourgogne and ex-lambic barrel.
The name of this beer was chosen just a few days before the sale, after a difficult period for many of us. 2020 will go down in history as a Bloedrood (bloody red)/gitzwart year. And also a tribute to the healthcare sector that has given blood, sweat and tears.

2020 edition. pours a very intense and dark, bloodred indeed ! Small pinkwhite head. Scent is intense, drying grape intensity, tannins and red fruits (cranberry, cherry) . Taste is full, almost a sweet touch to it, though it does feel dry, partly due to the tannins. Oak is only mildly present, cherries blend in very well with the red fruityness provided by the grapes.

18/VI/22 - 75cl bottle @ De La Sambre Saison Festival, BB: n/a, 2020 version (2022-761) Thanks for sharing!

Pretty clear deep ruby red beer, big creamy pink head, pretty stable, non adhesive. Aroma: nice, lovely stuff going on here, lots and lots of deep cherry aromas, very nice! MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: nice, very fruity, a little bitter, lots of cherries, a little oxidized. Aftertaste: dry and bitter finish, some cherry pits, a hint of almonds, more oxidative notes, pleasant beer!

2019 bottle from the source, had at Belgicali tasting. Deek red with small, white head. Loads of sour cherries, quite vinous. Funky and woody and quite sharply tannic.. Not much depth but packs a ton of flavor.
