This ale is traditionally highly hopped and robust to survive the long voyage to the Indian sub-continent. The result is a full-bodied Pale Ale with a zesty character. Dark golden in colour, pleasing toffee aromas, and distinctive floral citrus flavours.

Clear gold beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Palate is fairly dry with decent fine carbonation. Dry grain in the pale malts. Mild floralness, Mild bitterness and citrus. Finishes semi dry and crisp. Comes over slightly lager like but it’s pretty drinkable.

Ambar algo rojiza.

At Tolkien’s House. Thanks Filip! Poured a clear, full golden body with a creamy head. Buttery, malty aroma, vague veggies. What the hell? Nope, no hops there. Bitter, sweaty herbal hoppy taste. Some alcohol?! Relatively strong bitterness without proper aromatics to counter. If I were to judge First Gold from this beer, I’d have a low, low opinion about them. Seems to have that St. Peter’s house flavor going on that I can’t quite describe. Disappointing for an IPA, disappointing for an English IPA.

500 ml bottle. Amber orange with a creamy beige head. Soft butterscotch malt nose. Flavor upfront is more of the same with a touch of bitter hops. Some nuttiness and grassy hops in mid taste. Creamy mouthfeel with a medium body. Nice balance and flavor. Very drinkable and characteristic of English IPA’s. Somewhat tame compared to American IPA’s, however. Still, a nice brew.

Bottle from Seoul plaza, Bratislava. Orange golden color with medium white head. Quite bad malty aroma with notes of hops, yeast. Taste starts with lager maltiness followed by shy citrus hops. Not tasty.

Odd tall flask shaped bottle poured. Pours a murky golden orange with a thin patchy head. Big hops and subtle grain aroma. Majority dry flavor with a nice balance of malt and hops. Slightly bitter hop finish. This is definitely different then my usual IPA, and it’s really nice to have a big change. Kind of a thirst quenching IPA, and I thought that before I read on the bottle that the original purpose for the beer was exactly that. Something about this beer is really tasty. I don’t know. I thought it was good. Not going to let anyone persuade my opinion. Good stuff.
