Taiphoon is a pale, thirst-quenching ale with a distinctly hoppy, yet flower palate. The addition of lemongrass gives a zing to the flavour, making it an ideal accompaniment to spicy dishes.

Bottle. Hazy very pale gold with little head. Unpleasant metallic spicy aroma. Light body to extent of being watery with modest carbonation. Flavour has thin grainy lemony start with a harsh metallic bitter finish. Unusual, but not particularly nice.

From cask at Wenlock Arms. Pours clear and golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma is mild herbal lemonish to grassy. Mild initial citrusy flavoured. Bitter and crisp hops fruity. Dry, citrusy and smooth finish. Light spiced touch.

Cask via handpump at the King Charles I, Kings Cross, London on 2nd July 2009. A gold-coloured spicy pale ale with a small white head. Aromatically hoppy with plenty of spice notes; then lemongrass and hints of ginger kick in on a zingy textured mouthfeel. A long, dry, spicy and hoppy finish ensues. A delightfully different beer for those seeking to be adventurous. I loved it.

500ml bottle from Tescos, Andover. Pale straw with a foamy white head and moderate carbonation - looking more like a cheap lager than a bottle conditioned ale; rather sickly, spicy aroma; watery in the mouth, with some vegetable notes, then developing a warming gingery finish.

Bottled BB 10/2009. Pale yellow color, small white head. Lemon grass aroma, some buttery notes. When I poured beer, there was some sulphur at first, like sayravai said. Lemony and grassy flavor. Some lime peel, soap and coriander. Sweetish notes in the finish. Average soapy-bitter aftertaste. Easy going beer.

Bottled (from K Citymarket, Vaasa). Yellowish golden colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is lemon, wooden hoppyness as well as some mild rubbery notes. Flavour is bigtime grass along with some lemon and mild spicing. Some woodenness and also some metallic notes. Grassyness dominates the flavour.

Bottle, thx to Tarjei. An almost clear, yellowish golden pour gives a white head. Lemon and pale malt in the aroma. Some lemongrass too, but not more than I’m uncertain if I would have recogniced it if it wasn’t mentioned on the label. Slightly lemon flavor with pale malt and some herbal bitterness. Lemon and coriander notes in the finish. Medium body. A quite refreshing beer, but like so many golden ales, rather boring. (080731)

Bottle. Pale gold with a decent white head. Aroma of hay, lemon grass and a touch of citrus hops. Flavour had some summer fruits, more lemon grass and a decent dry finish. Ok.
