Stout blended with grape most, an interesting take on fruit stout by this progressive Walloon brewery. Mousy and creamy, pale greyish white, thinnish and open head, further diminishing over a very dark chocolate brown beer with mahogany glow, hazy. Aroma of coffee grounds, old raisins, violets, hint of soy sauce, moldy old hazelnuts, blackberries, something subtly sweaty, dry forest floor, blue plum, dry tea bags, rosehip. Estery, fruity onset, raisin, blackberry and prune, grapey indeed but in a ‘dry’ kind of way rather than juicy, medium carbonated, sweet and sour; supple body, walnutty and caramelly malt core, turning more brown-bready as yeast comes more into the picture, dry in the end and even slightly astringent (grape skins and seeds); herbal, tea-ish hops, some bitterness but softly so and more from roasted malts than hops, with some sweet caramelliness even peeping through in the end. Earthy notes mix with blue grape-, plum- and ripe blackberry-like fruitiness, lingering for quite a long time.
