Mørk nesten helt sort av farge, tynt skumlag langs kanten. God lukt, litt røyk lukt. God rund smak med en røykfull ettersmak.

50cl bottle. Dark brown colour with a beige head, medium lasting, nice lacing. Aroma is malty, roasty, slightly sweet and smoky. Flavor is toasty, coffee, black chocolate and smoky notes. Moderate dense on palate with a coffee and slightly sweet final. Carbonation is low to medium. Body is medium to high. Texture is medium oily.

Bottle: Poured a black color porter with a rather large brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of dry coffee notes with light roasted malt is pretty good. Taste is a nice mix between some dry coffee notes with some light roasted malt with a semi-dry finish. Average body for style with good carbonation, maybe even a tad too much for style. Good example of an English porter with well balanced flavour and limited astringency.

50 cl bottle @ home. Rated on 04.10.2010
Lots and lots of foam when opening and pouring. Aroma has some roasted notes, coffee and semi-dark chocolate. Flavour has ash, some coffee, chocolate and peat. Palate is way too high on CO2, which makes this too peaty and ashy. Decent anyway.

500 ml bottle from ICA, Alta. Batch # 457, 31.7.2012. Ruby/brown colour with a beige head. Sweet and roasted aroma with chocolate, coffee and burnt malts. Taste is sweet with a roasted note. Light body with a thin to creamy texture. Medium length finish with hops, roasted malt and some fruity notes. Would be far better with a little bit more alcohol and body, but given the strict Norwegian alcohol laws, this is quite good.

ICA supermarket: Pours a black with a small beige head. Aroma is roasted malt and chocolate. Taste brings out strong roasted malts with a good amount of burnt flavour. Taste also has plenty of bitterness, but it is not very hoppy. There are some minor vanilla notes. There is also a tiny bit of sweetness, but it is easily overshadowed by the bitterness. Aftertaste is long and bitter.
