Bottle at home. Pours a very hazy black colour with a small cappuccino-like head. A fantastic aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, and feels a bit sweet. A proper english-style porter this one. I find the the coffee and dark bitter chocolate in the flavour too, and with some berries. Light and slick mouth feel with a light to medium bitterness. This is a surprisingly easy-drinking beer but at the same time rich, powerful and tasty.

50cl bottle. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, some burned/smoked aroma, chocolate, coffee, caramel and dried fruits. Surprisingly much aroma. Lot of flavour, and very tasty. Dry and slightly bitter finish. I wasn’t quite convinced the last time I tried it, but this time it was very nice. Definitely one of the best Norwegian beers below 4,75% in my opinion.

Bottle, batch 371. Pours pitch black, with an almost extreme, dark head. Aroma is chocolate, sweet tobacco, raisins and some dark fruits. Body is somewhat thin, with lots of carbonation. Some sour notes in the flavour due to the burned malts, but also dark chocolate, nuts and some coffee. A dry finish.

Bottle, 11C. Black with a light tan head. Aroma of mocha, smoky roasted malt, sourish plums, vanilla, licorice. Light bodied. Taste is dry with bitter chocolate and coffee, some hints of dark fruits. Coffee is a bit too prominent for me and it’s a bit overcarbonated leaving the whole thing a bit on the astringent side. But the roastiness is pretty bold for the ABV and it’s pretty involving.

0.5l bottle @ Naboen, Bergen. Pours a ruby dark brown body with a gigantic bubbly foamy head. A good amount of the bottle ended up on the table as soon as the cap was popped. Typically Haandbryggeriet to make this way to carbonated. Nose is surprisingly low, but with hints of some faint sweet roasted malts and sweet chocolate. Medium bodied and moderate carbonation. Tastes much as it smells. Good roastiness, some chocolate, weak coffee and hints of vanilla and smoke. Ends in a nice and mild bitter finish.
