A hazai fejlesztésű, 2003-ban bevezetett Borsodi Bivaly 6,5%-os alkoholtartalmával a mezőny legerősebb indulója. A Borsodi Sörhöz képest testesebb ízű és kissé sötétebb színű Bivaly íze és ereje tökéletes harmóniát alkot.
Pontosan ezért szeretik ezt a markáns sört a hazai piacon, akik ragaszkodnak a megszokott magas színvonalhoz.

Aroma is hard to pick out, even when warm. Looks like a boring darker lager, but the taste is quite nice - a sort of dark-light thing going on with barley, coffee, and then some watery sweetness. Dry finish. Better than expected, despite appearances.

Sample at the Eurostash tasting on 04/30/09: Can from K. Kert 2000 Bt. in Budapest. The beer is a clear yellow color with a thin and fluffy white head that dissipates slowly. Minimal lacing is evident. Sweet malt and berries in the nose. Light body with flavors of fruit and grainy malt. The finish is fruity and yeasty with a lingering malt aftertaste. Honestly not sure what this beer is supposed to be style-wise but it’s not great regardless.

0,5l can courtesy of ogivlado, shared with heavy (thanks!) Poured a golden body with almost no head.. the tiny white layer was gone immediately. Nose? Weak. Some grainy maltiness. No alcohol which is a plus. Taste... too damn faint (it’s Borsodi after all), some stale maltiness, weak notes of alcohol, some dusty hopiness. The body is heavy, too bad the taste isn’t. It’s not offensive, which is a plus I guess considering the ABV and the country of origin and it might make it a good alcohol-carrying device but as a beer it fails overall. Not a shade of the Ožujsko Strong.

0.5 l can brought from Hungary by ogivlado while Doggythedog shared it with me so I thank them both a lot! I was looking forward this one as it has some parallels with Ozujsko Strong, retired Croatian beer I missed from some stupid reason. So...it poured low carbonated golden body with tiny head. Aroma was quite weak, with sweetish malt, some notes of alcohol and just some faint hops. Flavor is pretty full, sweetish and a bit sour hoppy, some orange notes, with alcohol just being hinted. Was pleasant to me although very simple and somehow without much character. Finish is medium long, follows the flavor so OK and nothing more. Fine, but I hope Ozujsko Strong was much better.

Bottle Clear, blond body. Frothy off-white head. Lightly malty, weak aroma. Moderately bitter, lightly sweet flavour off some malts (caramel) and spices. Quite well balanced with some complexity. I thought this was quite a decent beer.

Golden color, decent cloudy white head, lace. Light papery aroma. Quite sweey flavor - glucose and corn. Watery palate. Non-offensive strong lager, not bad as such for being from Hungary (where tokaiji and palinka are better options than beer).
