Barleywine Ale with Honey
We’re not the only ones who’ve been busy since last Deep Wood season; Revolution’s only permanent residents (residing in a hive on the brewery’s roof) have been pollinating local flora and producing honey for the past year. Not to be outdone, our brewers selected a crop of eighteen-month-old bourbon and rye whiskey barrel-aged English Barleywines to imbue with the bees’ golden elixir. Worth the welts. Enjoy now or store cold.

Crowler from Rev shared at Your Old Droog Cellar Blast. Pours a mostly clear, dark amber with a finger of off-white foam that lingers. Lovely aromas of honey and sweet malt on the nose. Palate is very similar with dried honey, caramel, toasted malt and toffee that all stand out. Drying finish with more honey and malt and a touch of peppercorn. Enjoyable but maybe past it's prime.

I loved this one much more than 2019, maybe the honey developed in that can more so overtime or who knows what happened but here the honey and barrel were so balanced perfectly. Tons of barrel spice and honey sweetness on a perfect barleywine base.

I don't love this as much as regular jacket, the honey does touch on overpowering for me, maybe age gave it super powers, I've got a 2020 too but ain't doing a side by side tonight. A lot of the malty barrel is lost in between a sea of honey here.

Very honey forward, médium body, a bit hot, but smooth.

Burk från Revolution, 2020, 13,2%. Kopparbrun/mahogny med krona som snabbt försvinner. Mycket bourbon och rye, kolaremmar, kandisocker, honungssötma. Mycket smak från faten, viss hetta men ändå väldigt mjuk.

Can thanks to Jeremy. Pours a dark copper with small beige head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is strong caramel, honey, raisin, bourbon. Slick body, strong honey, caramel, booze, candi sugar, enjoyed this.
