Deep brown with orange hues, and small off-white head. Smells like the dog on the bottle, with notes of roasted nuts (not the dog’s nuts I hope). Sweet malt with notes of hazelnuts, bt the beer is past its prime, as cardboard develops as beer warms up. Lighter bodied. Bought at LCBO Autumn 04.

Bottle Pours black with very little light tan head, enough of a "ring" for good lacing though. Aromas are moslty chocolate.and black licorice and soy. The flavor is mostly the latter and not much else. A bit of coffee and smokey. Feel is thin and nearly flat. A bit dissapointing

Bottle: Poured a clear light dark beer with a medium head with standard retention. Aroma is a mix of roasted malt and chocolate. Taste is a bit surprising with quite strong chocolate notes with nice roasted malt with subtle hops and a thin watery finish. Body was lighter then expected for a porter. Overall, this is like a light chocolate porter – not bad, just different I guess.

A dark red-brown beer with a fine dense light brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel and malt. The flavor is roasted with hints of yeast and a dry finish - a nice beer.

Pours black with a nonexistant head. Scents of cocoa and malt. Initial taste suprised me with a tea flavour. Palate the same with a nice roasted malt flavour and a watery finish.

Brown, dark amber color. Light aroma, strange (cookies...). Pretty good body, with some malt, a lot of caramel, some liquorice, roasted malt, strong bitterness, introducing the long bitter final. Strange, maltier than a bitter, more bitter and drier than other porters.

Even compensating for the ageing of my sample, this is a beautiful dark ale. If this is a porter, then they must mean like the old "Entire", though I cannot find any acidity. The kind of malts I taste, however, go in this direction. There is a nice nutty taste, with a coffee or bitter chocolate finish. A bit of a restrained beer, but in a nice British way.
