Draught at the brewpub. Roasted aroma, hint of fruit. Very dark brown colour. The flavour roasted and cardboardy. Some old chocolate. Disappointing.

Union Square location, part of sampler: Hands down the best beer I have had from Heartland. Dark brown color with a quickly dissipating head. Aroma of chocolate and coffee and all that delicious stuff. Body is really smooth and creamy, if not a little light for the style. In any case, the same roasted malts flavors and coffee and chocolate were present in the taste. Quite good. Would have liked to have got more of this one and less of the other ones.

Draught at Heartland Times Square, New York, NY. Near black, small head. Aroma and flavour of chocolate and oatmeal porridge. Sweet with medium body and soft mouthfeel. Coffee joins in in the salty finish. A surprisingly tasty stout and a complete change of pace from the rest of the Heartland lineup.

Tap @ Boston/NY 2009. Dark color, short creamy brown head. Aroma of oat, rye, roasted malt, creamy. Decent beer, but not that good.

Draught @ Heartland B&R, Empire State Building yesterday. Dark brown with pale brown foamy head. Much "going on"in this stout. Bitter with roast malts and delicate chocolate notes. Grassy aromas from the oats work well in a stou that I found to be well crafted.

On tap @ Heartland, Empire State Building:
Dark brown with a creamy head. Creamy coffee, chocolate and toffee aroma. Well balanced roastiness and coffee flavour. Goes down very easy.

Location: On tap at the 51st and 6th location of the brew pub

Aroma: Mostly coffee, with some oats and malts there too
Appearance: Dark color, not to thick creamy head
Flavor: Coffee malts dominate, some chocolate and oats in there too, roasted
Palate: good mouthfeel, medium body, a little chalky
Overall Impression: Thought this was a pretty nice stout, out of the 8 beers in my sampler, this and the IPA were by far the best...

A dark brown stout with reddish hues, with a thin white head. The aroma of this beer is wonderful, with caramel, black coffee and Nutella. A good ethiopian coffee bean best describes it. In mout, a bit disapointing, but still good, a rather sweet caramelly stout, with good coffee notes. Tasted at the Union Square location, Nov. 2006.
