Orangey-amber colour. Caramel aroma is lightly cinnamony, nutmeggy. Fairly smooth palate has lots of nutmeg, a hint of bitterness. Clean, well-balanced character if not terribly distinctive.

12 oz. bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville. Best before March 09. Reddish-auburn pour with a medium head, good retention and nice lacing. Aroma is your typical spices, but not over the top, subtle pumpkin and noble hops. Taste is very much the same, though the spices take over quite a bit... clove, cinnamon... and lend a spiciness to the beer. A bit too much I’m afraid. Medium bodied and moderate carbonation.

Cask@GBBF2008 (my notes said ABV 5.1%). Slightly hazy yellowish orange colour, with small white head. Nice lace. Aroma is spices, some fruits and pumpkin pie. Flavour is very much the same, more spicy than of pumpkin though. Nothing that exciting.

Cask at GBBF 08. Clear copper, lasting beige head. Definitely a spicy aroma. Lots of dried spice, nutmeg. I guess it’s a style you like or don’t. This is ok. I mean it’s interesting and the spice never runs away with it.

Here is another one of my "fun with aging" project. My girlfriend loves pumpkin beers and we get at least a six pack every year. So in 2006 I saved a bottle and in 2007 I saved a bottle as well. Finally getting around to trying how they aged. I am pretty sure that these are released in late August, so no real pumpkin in these beers I fear. Got out my sampling glasses from different events and decided to put them to use.

The 2007 beer pretty much seems like it does when fresh. Its got a lot of artificial pumpkin in the aroma, a bit too vegetal and artifical. Taste is very much like a heavier British pale ale with pumpkin and cinnamon.6/3/7/3/13

The 2006 bottle is better in my opinion. Aroma hits you with some aged malts by way of caramel and light chocolate. Just a little bit of clove and pumpkin left over. Taste is similarly a bit richer and just light spices in the aftertaste.7/3/7/3/15

Obviously, I prefer the older bottle. Both are hazy orange colored with a small head. Medium light body with low bitterness.

Mushroomy aroma of nutmeg and coriander.Cloudy amber with a thin off-white head, nice lacing. Quite strong, decently balanced, and tastes of nutmeg and pumpkin with a nice tang. Orange peel and grain finish. This just about maxes out what I’m willing to rate a pumpkin ale. There’s room for growth, but I can’t see rating any pumpkin ale much higher than this.

Pours an orange brown color with an off white head. Nutmeg and cinnamon are the most prominent things in the nose. It is a slow drinking beer with a medium mouthfeel and it leaves a certain aftertaste in the mouth. Almost no pumpkin flavor mostly the taste was of spices thrown into the pumpkin pie. Drinkable, but I wouldn’t buy it. Maybe it just ain’t my cup of tea.

Bottle. Orange color. Pumpkin aroma, with less of a spice aroma as other pumpkin beers I’ve had. Flavor is the same, with more subtle spice flavors, which I like.

Pours a hazy amber into a shaker. Fluffy white micro head has amazing retention. Pumpkin detergent aromas. Astringent upfront with a bitter lasting primarily citrus/clove, secondarily pumpkin finish.

Hazy amber body with a small tan head. Sweet heavily spiced aroma with some malty hints. Very strong nutmeg, allspice and a hint of cinnamon flavor, almost overpowering.
