Saison is an old recipe originating from the Hainaut tradition. It was brewed by all breweries at the beginning of the last century. In honour of the founder of the brewery, who produced Saison for the “cayoteux” or local quarrymen, this beer was once again produced in 1982. It is a golden coloured beer with an impressive head. The hop aroma is dominant with hints of flowers, resin and spices. Its density makes it a beer for special occasions and great moments.

Clear golden colour with a lot of tiny bubbles, large frothy white head, recedes slowly with the rim diminishing faster while in the center a foamy cone recedes more slowly, good lacing. Aroma is malty, fruity, orange peel, grass. Taste is medium sweet and bitter, wheat, malty. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation, aftertaste is light bitter astringent with citric notes, bit dusty, nice classic Saison.

Flaska från Saveur-bier. Gyllengul, disig och rejäl skumkrona. Märklig lite kemisk doft av bensin och alkohol. Det lägger sig snart och ersätts av lite jäst- och apelsinsskalstoner. Smaken saknar de mesta av vad man vill ha i en saison och känn som en ganska tung och söt blond trots att den bara är på 5,2%. Förvånansvärt mycket alkohol märks också i smaken. Nej, inte bra. Ett bryggeri med flera bra öl men inte någon bra saioson.

Flaska från Saveur Bieré. Smak och doft av humle, citrus, citron, örter, hö och gräs. Lagom sötma, lätt kropp, torr, aningen mycket kolsyra, fin beska.

Miel turbia, bastante sedimento flotando. Espuma muy blanca, efervescente al caer. Dos dedos, que se quedan en uno pronto pero que se mantiene mucho tiempo ahí. Aroma cítrico, rico, ligeramente especiado. En boca, destaca sobre todo por ser muy carbónica. En exceso. Pero ello no tapa un rico sabor bien equilibrado, de dulce caramelo y matices claramente frutales. El postgusto ligeramente picante por el gas, incorpora un toque especiado que la hace muy termina de redondear.

Bottle from Belgiuminabox.com . Pours light clear blonde, OK white head. Smell is bit sweet, grainy. Taste is bit bitter, somewhat dry. Don’t get the vanilla described in the description.... Weird... Slightly overcarbonated, bit blank as well...

Tasted from tap, a classic session ale with orange blond colour and a light malty and restrainedly fruity character, smooth with subtle spiciness. Elegant and thirst-quenching, but I prefer the more ’wild’ and authentic examples of the style, this is more of a polished version - but suitable as an introduction to saisons, surely.

Look: pale golden-amber almost clear with huge yeast flakes, big white fluffy head.
Aroma: quite faint, spicy, stale wine, a bit of funk.
Taste: feels like a beer with a lot of sugar in the bill, dry, a bit phenolic, spicy alcohol, light astringent bitter finish.

Golden colour, tall porous head. Aroma of grains, wood, some alcohol. Light to medium body. Sweet tasting with a hint of sourness. The finish could be more intensive.
