This is a traditional porter, made to warm the bones. Nearly black in color, Stovepipe Porter has a rich palate and a roasted, hoppy and slightly herbal aroma.

oured from 12oz bottle a near pitch black with a small head of foam that dissipated quickly leaving just a fine ring and layer.
The smell has good roastiness to it with strong chocolate notes.
The taste is of roasted malt with a bit of chocolate up front and some hoppy bitterness comes through near the end but the finish is actually on the sweetish side.
All of the flavours I mentioned are on the light side so this is one very smooth American Porter. I'd say, give it a try.

Bottle: Pours dark brown/burgundy with a short oatmeal coloured head. Chocolate malt, cream, light coffee scents. Taste is roast coffee, chocolate. Pleasantly mildly bitter.... Very well balanced...a nice one.

It pours a dark brown leaving the same color body with a one inch off white head that lasts for about thirty seconds. Some nice standard light foamy lacing appears around the sides of the glass. No carbonation is seen rising. The smell centers around the coffee with some chocolate in the background. Some light honey appears. The taste is pretty much the same, but in a good way. The palate is about a medium with nothing harsh on the tongue, just an overall standard feel. With the ABV where it is, this is still a very drinkable beer. Overall, this is your typical American Porter, nothing special, but nothing bad.

On tap at Strange brew, comes to the table a solid dark brown/black color with a smallish creamy off white head that doesn’t last very long. Smells of chocolate and caramel with hints of roast and earthy hop. The flavor is toffee caramel, brown sugar, and chocolate, with hints of roast and earthy pungent hops. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet slick mouthfeel. Nice simple porter, certainly nothing that’s going to rock your world, but a nice drinker just the same.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks zvikar. Very dark to black with a very light brown head. Roasty aroma of coffee beans and some dark chocolate. Bittersweet roasty flavor with coffee and a dry finish. Medium-bodied.

Poured from a 12oz bottle (thanks to Dave L from PA - drank Apr ’12) at room temperature into a snifter to an off black, dark chestnut brown colour with a thin tan head which soon reduced and dispersed to little more than a puddle atop the glass. Lacing present above the beer line throughout drinking. The aroma was non too powerful. A little roasted malt with a modicum of coffee and biscuit in the background. A solid tasting porter dominated by roast malts and chocolate, the latter which I didn’t really pick up on the nose! A little tobacco and wood in the background and a sweetish malty finish. The mouthfeel was just right for me, medium in body with a smooth finish and minimal carbonation. This beer invites you back for more with every sip and I only wished I had another bottle to crack open! Overall a decent porter and certainly one I’d go for again. At room temperature from the off, this beer got better on each reviewing field, the aroma and appearance were ok, but the all important (to me) taste and palate were excellent! Definately one to visit again!
