Red, astute, voluptuous and intriguing, with copper highlights, a dense creamy head and a full, structured body. The rich blend of special hops and malts gives the palate refined sensations of honey, nuts and candied fruits, balanced by an enjoyably bitter finish.

Bottle. A finger-thick off-white head sits patiently on top of a clear, dark golden body. Malty, fruity aroma with dried fruits and a touch of alcohol. Full-bodied and warming with flavors of pale malts, some caramel, a sugary fruityness and quite a lot of fruityness. Some dried fruits. A touch of bitterness towards the end. A quite decent one, but nothing world class going on. 111001

Bottle at Cafe Buitenlust, Oirschot. Italian beer tasting presented by Benito (many thanks!). Amber color, not a nice smell. Tastes like a real amber beer which is not really my style. Certainly not a bad beer, but just not my thing.

Pretty nice beer. Quite light in terms of taste and abv. Good taste for an English Strong Ale type of beer.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Hazy amber colour and off-white head. Aroma is caramel malts, some sweet fruits, bit of toffee. Flavour is caramel malts, candy sugar and a slight toastiness. It just doesn’t deliver.

23rd April 2010. Bottle at the Rake. Hazy orange brown beer. Soft smooth palate. Sweet malt! Very sweet! Sumptuos! A tiny bit of orange hop providing just a touch of bitterness. Simple but very well done malty beer.
