Red, astute, voluptuous and intriguing, with copper highlights, a dense creamy head and a full, structured body. The rich blend of special hops and malts gives the palate refined sensations of honey, nuts and candied fruits, balanced by an enjoyably bitter finish.

Bottle from Wine and Cheese. Pours dark amber with an off-white head. Very heavy, fruity aroma. Over caramel or toffee. Medium body with sharpish carbonation. Flavor is almost woody, with fruit and caramel. Maybe nutty rather than woody. The taste is unique. Suggests fresh apple juice to an extent. Finishes towards dry. Very interesting.

bottle at Ft Wayne locals tasting - Pours hazy brown with a lingering head and a caramel malt aroma. It has a lightly fruit accented malt flavor. The main drawback here is how thin the body is. That could definitely be better. I thought the flavor was alright though. The finish is quite mild. Not bad and how many times do you see a beer from San Marino of all places?

These beers have been pretty ubiquitous in my area for a while now, so I figured I’d finally give one a try - I guess I should have checked the ratings first - oh well - this one pours a clear dark amber with a small, soapy lace - the aroma is a little musty and earthy/vegetal with some medium sweet, rather indistinct maltiness, and a little bready character - a bit of root vegetable flavor up front, followed by some metallic character - behind this are some burnt sugars, light floral character, and a little bit of fruitiness, which is also quite indistinct - finishes a little watery, with some light grainy quality - pretty darn boring, but that won’t keep me from drinking all 50cl of this garbage (not at 7 bucks a bottle).

0.5 l bottle. Poured reddish body with small ebony head that soon disappeared. Aroma of oak, some roasted sugar and sweetish malty. Pretty full bodied in flavor, sweetish with fruits, yeasty, nice malty with a little bit of rice(?) and caramel. Quite lot of carbonation, despite small head. Finish is short, quite watery, without much in it. Not really Belgian ale, this is meant to be and it is Abbey Dubbel, well, not quite good one, but nothing bad either, pleasant and tasty beer.

Leicht alkoholischer Geruch, etwas malzig. Test vom 6.12.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 10,11,11,11,8,12 - 11,15
