Red, astute, voluptuous and intriguing, with copper highlights, a dense creamy head and a full, structured body. The rich blend of special hops and malts gives the palate refined sensations of honey, nuts and candied fruits, balanced by an enjoyably bitter finish.

A hazy amber beer with a disappearing off-white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of roasted bread and some chocolate. The flavor is dry and again with notes of roasted bread. Thanks Alex (fiulijn) for bringing this to Denmark.

Dark amber color. Caramel and caramel again (aroma, flavor and palate). Strong bitterness, but not enough complex.

My third San marino beer.... and it’s a very nice rendition of a doppelbock. Pours a big thick creamy white head which dissipates at a steady pace, and tastes coffeish. The beer is of an iteresting shade of brown, very dark orange when held to the light, but otherwise... well... burnt umber is a good guess for the colour, or a strange shade of brown. Anyway, it looks quite nice, with some carbonation and lots of lacing. Smells.... chocolatey, coffeeish. Tastes nutty and coffeish. Roasty even in the aftertaste, but in a pleasant way. Almost porter-like taste. Just enough body. Hides its 6.5% extremely well (not that there’s much to hide). Very nice bottle, the usual Amarcord one, with the usual not-for-children label. This one is probably the most revealing. All in all, it’s the best Amarcord beer, which makes it the best San Marino beer. And probably in the top five if you count it as an Italian beer.

Dark ruby-brown beer; off-white, very creamy & large head. Soft chocolate nose, like chocolat-mousse. Whiff of herbal hops. Aroma is falsely subdued, sniffing yields little, but I could detect my glass on the table 2m away. Bitter-sweet taste, starting typically burnt malt, then going over in very sweet liquorice. Ending in a bitter, burning sensation, and again some chocolate. Sharp, burning tongsidues contrast with the creamy, velvety first mouthfeel. Nice try. The contrast is remarkable. Big thanks to fiulijn for this rare pearl.
