VERY BIG MOOSE
As Imperial Stouts go this is of Tzarist proportions. Rich, thick and ermine smooth. This collab winner is bottled decadence for the people. A mix of dark malts gives a well-rounded body that is decidedly chocolatey. With notes of vanilla, cinnamon, cocoa and chocolate on the nose. Sweet and chewy to taste with roasted malts, chocolate and vanilla.
VERY BIG MOOSE - Imperialism comes of age.
Not only did crew from BrewDog Aberdeen assist in the brewing of this beer for #Collabfest2017 - but it came out on top as the winner, beating 33 other beers for that top spot!
Together they brewed up a super-imperial version of Fierce Beer's session chocolate - Moose Mousse. They used the best Colombian Cacao and Madagascan Vanilla. It drinks really well at room temp, chilled, or with an ice cream float.
We brought this one back by popular demand for #PunkAGM2018!

Backlog 31/12/2020, the last beer of the year 2020;
Best before 04/03/2019, Lot 1801528 EA, 330ml bottle
APPEARANCE: almost pitch black color with dark brown to mahogany hues on the sides of the glass; brownish, quickly dissipating head into a small ring of fairly big fluffy bubbles;
AROMA: as you expect from the style - fairly rich and complex aroma of toasted sugars, dark malts and adjuncts (cocoa nibs, vanilla, cinnamon, salt); bitter - sweet chocolate topped with cinnamon and hints of vanilla and even coconut in the background, moderate sweetness on the nose; notes of sweet bread, melting caramel, brown sugar, dried fruits like raisins and figs, forest berries; very soft vinous quality adds another layer of complexity along mild savory and mineral notes; no obvious sign of 12% abv on the nose.
TASTE: smooth and slightly creamy carbonation, medium full body pushing slightly to full body, moderate syrupy, oily and slick mouthfeel; sweet onset with layers of toasted sugars, dark caramel, brown sugar, hints of molasses, nice amount of cinnamon that doesn't overpower, notes of chocolate fudge, oxidized cocoa nibs, light and slightly restrained roasted bitterness of black & barley coffee, cocoa nibs, wood; notes of dried fruits - dates, raisins, a touch of red fruits - berries; vanilla did faded away - very subtle hints; very soft plum brandy like alcohol but otherwise perfectly hidden; a gentle umami presence, lingering soft roast bitterness with cocoa nibs in the aftertaste; no sign of oxidation or other flaws;
OVERALL: holding very good for the age, cocoa nibs and cinnamon stands out with loads of complex sweetness; lacks on vanilla and a bit on the mouthfeel but otherwise very harmonious and dangerously drinkable sipper

Kan det bli for mye av det gode? Ja, kanskje. Nesten et overveldende skred av malt og krydderaktig rikdom og ikke minst en del alkoholpreg. Den er i hvert fall ikke noen puslete øl.
