Saku ROCK is a beer with a lot of attitude. It was first brewed in the spring of 1994 as a limited edition beer for a music festival that took place the same year. In the meantime, the success of Saku Rock meant that the Saku brewery continued the brewing and today, it is a regular of the Saku portfolio.

Rock is a beer full of power and character. When compared to other lager beers, Rock packs a stronger hoppy taste, a bigger umps and not a drop of mildness.

500ml bottle. Clear, yellow-ish, pale golden colour with average, thick, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, snow-white head. Grainy and strawy aroma, minimal malt-spiciness. Taste is moderately bitter hoppy, minimally metallic, minimally soapy, slightly strawy, pale malty basis, a grassy, spicy touch, subtle malt sweetness, subtle, unspecific fruitiness. Rather beefy and comparatively variegated Pale Lager.

* Old rating, best before 04.11.10. Vielen Dank an kevnic2008. Süßlich-getreidiges Bier, nicht zu tief, kaum herb. Langweilig.

Bottle. Cardboard and barley malt aroma. Hazy golden yellow with small head. Sweet light citrus, barley malt and cardboard flavor. Would probably be okay if it weren’t so oxidized.

Pours a clear golden color topped with average white head. There is a mild malty aroma which is about it about the nose. The taste is light, balanced body with some bitterness in the finish. Not bad.

500ml can kindly shared by djoeye. Chalky head to a straw coloured body. Distant smell of grain and soft fruits. Flavoured with lemon, wheat and pale malts. Mid-sweet fruity endnotes. Medium bodied. Far from great but possible to drink (Tromsø 18.03.2014).

50cl can from Tallinn Airport. Pours pale golden with a minimal white head. Very light malty aroma with hints of cooked vegetables, grain, sugar and green apples. Sweet and lightly malty with a slightly dry finish with some bitterness. Ten years ago this was my favourite Estonian beer, and it’s still a preferred choice over the regular Saku, but now I know there is much better beer available in Estonia too.
