Saku ROCK is a beer with a lot of attitude. It was first brewed in the spring of 1994 as a limited edition beer for a music festival that took place the same year. In the meantime, the success of Saku Rock meant that the Saku brewery continued the brewing and today, it is a regular of the Saku portfolio.
Rock is a beer full of power and character. When compared to other lager beers, Rock packs a stronger hoppy taste, a bigger umps and not a drop of mildness.

Refrigerated 0.5 L brown bottle from JoePeesie. Pours hazy deep golden with some suspended yeast with two finger fluffy white head. Good thin lacing, medium/thin body, medium carbonation, nice grain aroma. Taste is nice pilsner malt, bread, some tangy yeast, and light crisp hop finish. Nothing spectacular, but pretty good for a pale lager.

500 ml. bottle. Clear, golden colour with a small, white head. Aroma with grains, bread, cooked vegetables and hay. Taste is light sweet. Light to medium body with a thin texture. Lively carbonated. Short finish with cooked vegetables, grains and hay. The "rock-theme" on this beer is so lame and tacky, that I just had to give it a 2....

On tap, 0.5l. Clear golden colour with medium creamy white head. Pleasant malty aroma with light floral and grassy notes. Surprisingly similar taste to wheat bear, a bit hoppy and lasting aftertaste. Medium body, slick texture and lively carbonation in palate. Very good one for pale lager.

500 ml bottle, as Saku Rock Alternative Premium, from a potential importer. ABV is 5.3%. Pale golden colour, large and lasting white head. Moderate sweetish aroma, some pilsener malts. The flavour is not too sweet, but very bland, and the hops are very moderate. However, there are no offensive off-flavours, and I can see that this beer may "go home" with its apparent target group, young people who are really not into beer yet. Tolerably refreshing when cold.
