A classic, strong beer with a generous warming flavour. The taste is deliciously fruity and malty with a lingering bitter aftertaste.

Bottle. Nutty malt, oaky vinous, raisin aroma. Reminded me a bit of sherry. Brown with a ring of small bubbles. Malty, oaky vinous flavor just like the aroma, and a very mild bitterness in the finish. Smooth medium body, flat carbonation. Very nice beer.

Hazy amber - brown beer. Crispy semi dry palate. Low carbonation though. Medium malt, a little nutty. Trace of banana. Tangy but watery orange hop provides a little balance. A little less dry and a little more carbonation would be good.

500ml bottle. Pours orange brown with a small head. Aroma is bready malt, dark fruit and used washing up water. Taste is watery dark fruits to start. Bitter raisin finish. Full in the mouth but a bit too much fuzz.

Bottle from Tescos in Amersham, Bucks. A copper coloured pour with a healthy off white head. Sweet, malty aroma. Tastes malty, fruity, caramel and sweet. This was much better than expected.

(Cask at Market Porter, Southwark, London, 23 July 2011) Brownish amber colour with brief, foamy head. Malty, nutty nose with notes of dried fruit, orange peel and slightly toasty malt. Malty, nutty taste with dried apricots, raisins, prunes and a slightly spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with some malt sweetness. Quite nice.

Pour is a caremel color with a average tan head. Aroma is caramel malt with seom berry and earty malts. Flavor is kinda weak. Some earthy malts and not much else. Nothing in the way of hops. OK for an ESP but still lacking anything to put this one over the top.

Cask handpull at County Hotel JDW Ashford. Mid brown copper colour with lasting ivory head. Some toffee and biscuit on the flavour. Sweeter than it is bitter. Yes quite a sweet biscuit beer. Not much hop nor bitterness on the finish. Ok.
